TOO MUCH of a GOOD THING

I was usually always sleep deprived. With 2 jobs, school, and service in the community, sleep was often an option. Note the use of PAST TENSE.

Sleep is now not only mandatory...but (dare I say it?) ADDICTIVE.

It may be becuase I no longer have 2 jobs or go to school...or maybe I'm just trying to catch up all the lost sleep.

Maybe I should sleep on the floor...maybe I should find my alarm clock...maybe I should sleep soon.

MAY = MIRACLE MONTH

May = Mothers = Protection = Miracles

May 5: Pre-Conferece
It was a GLOOMY week leading up to this event. Days of endless rain, bitter cold winds, and on the eve of the precon: SNOW. Yes - Snow in May. The wind howled and rattled the windows as the team worked tirelessly through the night. Rain lashed at our faces as we loaded the vans and drove to the conference site. The outdoor basketball courts were wet, the other delegation was delayed, the stage was a mess. But miracle of miracles, the sun shone. The day ended up being a cool, bright day...God 1, Devil 0.

May 13: Mother's Day
A Crash. Stephen got t-boned and rear-ended. The seatbelt he wore didn't lock as he was whipped around by the impact - as a result his ribs and shoulder blades were not broken. Police said he should have been dead or at the very least paralyzed. Yet, he walked away from that incident unscathed...the ONLY one from that accident without major injury. God 2, Devil 0

May is only half way to being "done" and God has already proven that He will protect His children. This just drives home the point that "With God, NOTHING is impossible."

PANGARAP KO...

 Well...my beloved ones at home...I am on the homestretch. By homestrech I really mean...home "stretch." There's so much that I still want to do that I know will be definitely left undone and it's that feeling of "unfinished work" that leads me to dread the day I will leave this beautiful place. I feel as though I really have to stretch my time in order to do what needs to be done before  I embark on possibly the most difficult journey home.

Since my last post I was blessed enough to visit the beautiful village of Matalangau where God truly stripped us of all our worldly tendencies so we can see the beauty in a simple life. In this Aeta village, amidst the no electricity, wide open washrooms, showers in the river, singing by the bonfire...the meaning of family and community took on a whole new meaning...

God has also blessed me with 5 beautiful sisters who I have had the priveledge to serve and live with during the past few months. Sisters I have laughed with, cried with, and even cooked with...my heart breaks at the thought that I would not be seeing them as often any more. "Sisterhood" takes on a whole new meaning...

Rhoda (Choconut), Cha (Peanut), Analou (Coconut)...                The HOUSEMATES.

And just for kicks, I was blessed enough to see a few friends who I have not seen in SOO long...and ok I get it, I'm dark.

And...the beautiful children who have stolen my heart...

So many many many memories...

God has indeed blessed me with SO much here. Just when I thought I had reached my capacity in service and love, He shows me so much more.

HALF WAY POINT

Things I have done thus far:

  1. Rode on a BOAT! (SUPERFERRY16)
  2. Attended my FIRST SFC Conference
  3. Attended my FIRST ILC (it was the same conference)
  4. SANG as part of the "Foreign Delegates Band"
  5. Gotten BLACK

Feelings I have felt all throughout: PEACE

This is now the halfway point of thismy stay here and I honestly can't imagine how fast time is flying. For the first time in a very very long time, I feel a sense of overwhelming peace. You know how during conferences God "disturbs" you and calls you to go places and do things and you can't help but cry at teh magnitiude of the task he is aksing of you? The ILC was nothing like that...after how many years of shedding tears of unworthiness at our conferences back home...a sense of peace came over me...

HOME away from home

 Being far away from home can take its toll on a person. Particularly a person like me who LOVES being HOME. Luckily, there are a few people (and many children) who have become HOME to me. My cousins who I grew up with and the cousins I do not know....as well as the lovable Sibol students who fill my day with wonder and joy. Here's a brief snap shot at some of my "favorite" people here...

"The girls" missing: Rochelle, Rachelle, Mayden, and Mayden's sister
